Media One Spotlight: Bill Macdonald

    Who: Bill Macdonald

    Title: Chief Client Officer

Q: What are you most excited to learn about in your role?
Every agency has its own culture, its vibe.  At Media One there is a concept written right into the core values of ‘Media One-ness’, I am excited about diving in and understanding what makes Media One the special place that I can already tell it is, and as a client service leader translating that into the work that we do for our clients.  Ideally, this comes through in equal measures, both in the fantastic work that we deliver and the exceptional experience our clients have working with us.
Q: What is your favourite part of working in client service?
I am driven by my curiosity, which is really what drew me to client service in the first place. Each client provides us with an opportunity to learn a new industry, new target audiences with new and unique needs.  This is a big part of what keeps us fresh in our roles, allowing us to translate the experiences and learning that we take from our transversal experience and apply it to the focused needs that our clients present.
Q:  Tell us about your past industry experience.
I have been lucky to have had the opportunity to work with some of the best agencies and brands around the world, including 8 years in London and 4 in Paris, solving communications problems with all the tools in the kit. This includes everything from big-budget brand spots for beer companies to apps and websites, CRM and loyalty programs for some of the biggest brands on the planet.  Along the way, I have learned that by putting the consumer at the heart of our thinking and never letting up on the quality of the work, we can make a real difference to the bottom line for our clients.  And in the end that is what really matters.
Q: Where do you find your inspiration?
Travel has really opened my eyes to the many different ways we all experience the world around us.  Every time we step outside our comfort zone we open ourselves up for learning and inspiration.  While we haven’t had the same opportunity to travel over the last few years there are still many ways to seek out new experiences.  I have been particularly drawn to food and music, and their ability to enrich our lives even when stuck at home.
Q: What is one thing you cannot live without?
Without question, my family. My wife and three daughters make me laugh and smile every day.
